Second installment: Do you feel the time is right to get serious? Two destinations to put you to the test

You have decided that your time has come. By now you have grinded out enough miles in “calm waters” and feel ready to launch into more sailing destinations. In this second installment, we outline two cruises tailored for those who want to test themselves on itineraries with a significant number of daily miles, where they are more likely to face challenging weather and sea situations while boarding a performance vessel. Let’s start with the destinations. Corsica and Sardinia: every sailor who wants to call himself one must have sailed at least once in the middle of the Straits of Bonifacio: between northern Sardinia and southern Corsica departing from well-equipped marinas such as Portisco and Cala dei Sardi in Sardinia or Solenzara and Ajaccio in Corsica. Another destination to try is Croatia, for the almost endless itineraries it provides among its islands. Starting from the north, for example from Pula, you cannot miss the Kornati Islands; if, on the other hand, you prefer to start your cruise from a more central area to keep more options open to you here are the marinas in Split, Trogir and Biograd. While Dubrovnik’s, further south, is your port if you want to venture to the Montenegrin coast as well.
