Do you want to learn the secrets of long offshore and night sailing? Sea Master’s full-weekend deep-sea courses are for you.
HOW THE MASTER’S PROGRAM DEVELOPS
The program will cover boat preparation and cruise planning on Saturday. The rigging and sails are checked. We go out to sea until about 5 p.m. to become familiar with the boat by maneuvering under sail. At 9 p.m. we set sail for night sailing, rehearsing maneuvers in the dark and learning the organization of shifts. Depending on the weather conditions, we will sail offshore or inshore, even anchoring in the roadstead. Around 3 a.m., we return to the harbor, facing the night mooring and assessing the conspicuous points of the lighthouses and beacons. On Sunday, around 11 a.m. we will go back out again to address issues related to safety in navigation.
AND IF ONE WEEKEND IS NOT ENOUGH FOR YOU….
There are many weekends on which Sea Master organizes these offshore courses, all based in La Spezia. o,The next ones will be heldMarch 20-22 and April 3-5, all aboard 37- to 45-foot cruising hulls with gennaker gear. And if one weekend is not enough for you, you can opt for “Deep Sea Sailing Master Weeks,” aboard a Hallberg Rassy 45. It starts in June, sailing in stages in the Mediterranean Sea and then continuing in the Atlantic Ocean before taking the big leap to the Caribbean. This course involves the simulation of a real cruise, right from its organization ashore. It will start from Trapani, then pass through Tunisisa, Sardinia, Corsica, the Balearic Islands, to Gibraltar and the Canary Islands. Last leg, from Lanzarote to Santo Domingo. find all information about course dates, locations, and boats at www.sea-master.info
