The Loro Piana Superyacht Regatta, the event organized by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda in cooperation with Boat International Media, has come to a close. The near total absence of wind prevented the superyacht fleet from contesting the final heat of a competition that, despite the week’s light winds, did not fail to excite. Celebrating in their respective divisions are Albert Buell’s 45-meter, Saudade (Division A), the 25-meter My Song by Pier Luigi Loro Piana (Division B) and the 25-meter Great Horace by Maximilian Florio (Division C).
SAUDADE WINNER IN DIVISION A
In the head-to-head battle that has enlivened Division A in recent days, Wally Saudade-the Danish match racing champion, Jesper Radich, as tactician-won out with a third place and two wins over the sloop Ganesha. Regret then for the latter who, having the same points as Saudade, missed an opportunity today to be able to turn the situation around. Third place in the ranking for Clan VIII, the 45-meter boat from the Perini Navi shipyard. During the award ceremony, Saudade was also awarded the Loro Piana Prize, The Silver Jubilee Cup by Boat International Media.
SUPER MY SONG
Easy victory for the crew of My Song, who with three wins out of three races held secured the trophy with one day to spare. Kudos to the other two challengers in Division B: the 33-meter WinWin from Baltic Yachts shipyard, in its first participation in the event, and the Swiss sloop Inoui, second and third place, respectively.
GREAT ORAZIO IS REALLY GREAT
Absolute triumph also for Grande Orazio, a pearl of the South African shipyard Southern Wind, which with three first places is awarded as the winner for the second year in a row. On the second step of the podium in Division C is the Wally80 Nahita, with Olympic sailor Sime Fantela aboard as tactician, followed by the 30-meter Blues, another Southern Wind yacht.
