sailor photo year1Stop the vows! The second phase of voting for the Sailor of the Year has concluded: nearly 5,000 of you voted to determine the 25 candidates (out of 52) who advanced to the next phase. The next “round” will begin on March 30.

TAG HEUER 2015 SAILOR OF THE YEAR IN FOUR STAGES

FIRST STAGE (WINNING VOTE) – FROM 100 to 52 CANDIDATES (TERMINATED)
-100 CANDIDATES voted online on our website from Jan. 26 to Feb. 15
-20 CANDIDATES INDICATED BY YOU voted online from Feb. 4 to Feb. 15
-The 50 most voted plus the two who gathered the most preferences among those chosen by you passed the round

SECOND STAGE (WINNING VOTE) – 52 to 25 CANDIDATES (TERMINATED)
-52 CANDIDATES voted online from March 4 to March 15
-The 25 top-rated candidates passed the ballot.

THIRD STAGE (CONSULTATIVE VOTE) – 25 to 5 CANDIDATES.
-25 CANDIDATES to vote online from March 30 to April 13. The vote in this case will have advisory value: taking into account also your expressed preferences, a jury of the specialists of the Journal of Sailing will select the 5 CANDIDATES who will pass the round

FOURTH PHASE – CHOOSING THE SAILOR OF THE YEAR (AND OTHER AWARDS)
-The 5 CANDIDATES chosen will go on to make up the shortlist of “papayees” for Sailor of the Year. These will compete, based on the decisions of the GdV jury, for the Sailor of the Year award and the other awards: TAG Heuer Sailor of the Year “Passion,” TAG Heuer Sailor of the Year “Innovation” and TAG Heuer Sailor of the Year “Performance”
-Winners will be revealed at the Day of Champions at the TAG Heuer VELAFestival (May 7-10) in Santa Margherita Ligure on May 8
