At midnight on Friday, February 20, the voting for the first phase of the 2015 TAG Heuer Sailor of the Year came to a halt.
25,000 VOTES. SECOND PHASE FROM FEBRUARY 27
Almost 25,000 of you participated! From 100 the “nominees” are down to 52 (50 plus two of those chosen by you, this poll also closes at midnight!).. Now we will start again: a new survey, starting from scratch. You will be called again “to the polls” to decree, by voting on our website, the 25 candidates who will advance to the next stage: the second round of voting will begin on February 27 and will end on March 15. Among them, finally, you will still be the ones to choose the 5 among whom a quality jury will elect the Sailor of the Year and the winners of the other TAG Heuer awards (Passion, Performance, Innovation), and whom you will be able to meet in person at the TAG Heuer VELAFestival in Santa Margherita Ligure (May 7-10) during the Day of Champions, next May 8.
TOP VOTE-GETTERS OF THE FIRST PHASE
Who are the fifty who passed the round? They can be found at the bottom: This year we decided to nominate boats as well, and in fact there are many boats, offshore and classic, that have made the grade in this first phase, such as the Este 31 Red Globule, the Sangermani Samurai, the Moor of Venice I, the M37 Low Noise and the T-34 Angry Red Unitenergy. Among the people, it went great Roberto Tomasini Grinover, owner of the boats bearing the name Robertissima, lone sailor Matteo Miceli, optimist Elisabetta Fedele, Low Noise owner Giuseppe Giuffré, Achille Onorato, Carolina Albano. As for the parallel poll of your picks, Robertissima III, the JV72 (ex-Ran 2) of the aforementioned Tomasini Grinover, and the young Optimist specialist Davide Duchi prevailed over all proposals. The two nominations have thus rightfully entered the competition and will be the “outsiders” in the second round. Here is the link to the survey with the results
