Sailor of the Year, here’s how it’s going

HOW THE VOTING IS GOING
Roberto Tomasini Grinover, owner of the Robertissima series of boats (Melges 32 to Judel Vroljik 72, formerly Ran 2) is again in the lead. The Friulian had also racked up votes during the first round of voting. Right behind, for now, Luigi Pavese’s 1967 Samurai Sangermani, also among the top-rated candidates in the first round. Vittorio Bissaro and Silvia Sicouri, Nacra 17 phenoms, first on the world class ranking list and concrete medal hopes ahead of Rio 2016, occupy the third position. Just like their way of racing: they started conservatively (in the first phase they just hovered around 20th place) except then carbonized like a turbo diesel and leapt to the top. It is followed by Il Moro di Venezia I, Matteo Miceli, who is currently sailing around the world on his zero-impact Class 40, Paralympic athlete Antonio Squizzato, and Low Noise owner Giuseppe Giuffré, winner of World and European ORC.
