Jim Clark’s 100-foot Comanche won the 2015 edition of the Fastnet in real time among monohulls, taking, to cover the 603 miles (from the port of Cowes on the Isle of Wight, you reach the Fastnet Rock near the southwest coast of Ireland and go around it and then head toward Plymouth passing south of the Isle of Scilly), 2 days, 15 hours, 42 minutes and 26 seconds. Only four minutes separated the fireball captained by Ken Read from its fiercest rival, Rambler 88 By George David. In third place was the 100-foot Leopard followed by Dieter Schon’s Maxi 72 Momo.
ULTRAFAST SPINDRIFT
Among the multihulls, line honors went to Dona Bertarelli and Yann Guichard on Spindrift 2, the largest boat (40 meters) in the category, which arrived in Plymouth in 2 days, 10 hours, 57 minutes and 41 seconds.
MANY PARTICIPANTS, LITTLE WIND. WHO WILL WIN IN PLYWOOD?
Fairly high times for this very crowded edition (356 at the start), due to the light wind that was the main factor. Now we wait to figure out the winners in compensated time.
