One year has passed and it is time to pay the boat ownership tax again. Let’s start by reminding that the tax must be paid, as always, by May 31 in order not to incur penalties.
But much has changed from last year. Meanwhile, under Decree Law 69/2013, the tax is due only for boats 14.01 meters and up. Hence, those boats from 10 to 14 meters, which had to pay until last year, are now exempt. Indeed, in a moment we will explain how you can get the refund related to 2013.
The other change lies in halving the fee for boats from 14.01 to 20 meters (see table with updated values). It is paid via F24 form with code 3370 “Tax on recreational units – Article 16, paragraph 2, Decree Law 201/2011.” There are deductions on the fee based on the age of the boat (see table).
HOW TO GET A REFUND
If you paid a tax last year in excess of the amount due, with the changes of Decree 69/2013, you can apply for a refund electronically, also sending a copy of your sailing license. If you are Entratel or Fisconline-enabled, you can do this on your own; otherwise, you need to contact appointed parties (such as accountants). Find the form on theInternal Revenue Service website.
