Rebellion, the third Carkeek 40 Mk II, built by Premier Composites Technologies and launched in early spring, is ready to race in England. It is a boat, that of owner Stewart Whitehead, that is decidedly high-performance. The boat, designed to be competitive in both IRC and HPR (High Performance Rule), was built by the design team of Carkeek Design Partners and constructed of ultralight carbon infusion.

LIGHTNESS IN POWER
Mast is carbon, mainsail square top, hydraulic forestay, large cockpit in racing configuration. Before we cry “revolutionary masterpiece,” let’s see how it will perform at the British IRC National Championships, Cowes Week and RORC Channel Races (Fastnet qualifiers). The hull, planing, thus with a maximum beam shifted far aft, is designed to perform best in wind conditions between 8 and 15 knots. The hull weighs very little: only 3897 kg! www.carkeekdesignpartners.com
