PicMonkey CollageThe 2015 Menorca Maxi (here the story of the regatta from our correspondent) with the victories, among the Wallys (12 superboats entered, a record), of Thomas Bscher’s 107-foot Open Season and, in the Maxi72 class, of Dieter Schön’s Momo, with a trio of Italians on board (Michele Ivaldi, Diego Negri, Matteo Auguadro). Open Season is the former WallyCento Hamilton, which was lengthened by Judel and Vroljik by 7 feet and reconsidered because it did not walk as well as the other WallyCento, Magic Carpet Cubed. Now Bscher reaps the benefits of the redesign. Toni Cacace’s Magic Blue and Lindsay Owen-Jones’ Magic Carpet Cubed completed the top trio among the boats churned out by Luca Bassani’s yard, while silver and bronze in the Maxi72s were won by Sir Peter Ogden’s Jethou and George Sakellaris’ Shockwave.
