Ondisplay at the upcoming La Rochelle Boat Show (Sept. 16-21) will be the new RM 1270: the boat was developed on the platform of a successful model of the Fora Marine shipyard, the 1260, and incorporates some “evolutions.”
TILTING MOBILE DRIFT, WHY NOT?
Striking, first of all, is the possibility of fitting (as an alternative to the normal keel and the double keel, a solution quite common in Brittany, where they command the tides) the tilting movable centreboard. But that’s not the only new feature: the hull, which features a triple edge (running virtually along the entire line, from stern to bow) and an inverted foredeck, has been rethought to more easily achieve glide and features a revamped deck plan.
THE OTHER SPECIAL FEATURES
Other special features include the dedicated compartment for the self-inflating raft, with direct access to the water, located in the center of the stern, the central stern pulpit (in black steel, as are the bow ones and the stanchions), the integrated bowsprit, the new interior design (with direct access to the engine compartment), the “big size” portlights on the broadside, and the forward cabin with double doors (allowing, for those who wish, to rig a second cabin).
INTERIOR
The interior layout includes the master stateroom forward, a double aft (located on the starboard side) and a double with bunk beds on the port side): the bathroom is on the starboard side equipped with a shower compartment, and further forward is the chart table. To the left finds space for the “U-shaped” kitchen. The folding dining table is flanked by two sofas developed exclusively in length. As mentioned earlier, access to the forward owner’s quarters provides a double entry so that those who wish can have a configuration with two forward cabins.
A LITTLE EXPENSIVE, BUT…
Pending the publication of the Italian price list, the French one indicates a base price (excluding VAT) of 211,250 euros. We certainly cannot call the new RM 1270 an inexpensive boat, but it is a model of absolute build quality, made for people who like to sail for a long time and want to turn the boat into their home (the first three models, which will be used for the fairs, will still enjoy a bargain price). www.yachtsynergy.it
