After introducing the marine industry’s first multi-touch navigation system in 2012, Furuno continues to leverage the latest hardware and software technologies with the introduction of the new NavNet TZtouch2 multifunction series.
UPDATED AND USER-FRIENDLY USER INTERFACE
What is immediately noticeable on the NavNet TZtouch2 is the updated and improved user interface that is at the same time easy and intuitive. The new FURUNO design uses bright, bold colors that help identify icons for radar, fish finder, chart plotter, weather, camera, instrument, and navigation data display selection. To create custom display pages, simply drag the icon to the appropriate editing page. Access to different screens is made available by tapping the Home icon or using the new “Swipe Edge” motion. Simply swipe down with one finger to bring up the drop-down menu from the top for quick and easy access. Likewise, it is also possible to make different menus appear on all four sides of the screen. From the right side, contextual menus to the page are displayed, from the left side, navigation data are obtained, and from the bottom, options on cartography and general data are displayed. All important options are now available with a single swipe of the finger.
REDUCED INSTALLATION COSTS
Equipped with a GPS receiver built directly into the display with 56 channels, the NavNet TZtouch2 Multi Function Display NavNet provides significant savings in installation costs, while still making it possible to connect to a redundant external antenna where needed. In addition to the GPS receiver, a further step forward is the integrated dual frequency 50/200kHz Fish Finder module with 600W/1kW power. It includes not only Furuno’s bottom discrimination mode and ACCU-FISH™ technology, but also incorporates another new proprietary fish finder technology called RezBoost™. It is a new feature using Furuno’s unique digital signal processing protocol that allows for exceptional resolution on the display and an incredible degree of target separation, without the need to change one’s transducer or purchase rather expensive broadband transducers.
THE OPTIONS.
You can choose between a 12.1-inch WXGA display or a 15.6-inch multi-touch display using raster and vector cartography in MapMedia format based on Jeppesen, Navionics and NOAA data, and integrate a wide variety of radar antennas, from 2.2kW radome to 25kW open array. For smaller vessels Furuno has added the new DRS4DL, a small 4 kW inch radome antenna with a very competitive cost, to the range. NavNet TZtouch2 can also be used to integrate, display and control NAVpilot series autopilots, as well as share available data with the new FI-70 instrumentation, and having the same design, together they make the dashboard uniform and elegant. In addition, AIS, Meteofax, Weather Station, Stereo Fusion, cameras, as well as other devices with NMEA2000 bus can be added to the network. NavNet TZtouch2 also has an NMEA0183 output port available to send data to other nearby systems.
FOR “SOCIAL” BROWSING
NavNet TZtouch2, as with the previous series, allows information to be shared on tablets and smartphones via Wireless LAN by downloading and using various free applications for Apple and Android devices. It can be connected to a remote keypad and will soon include other wireless features, including connection to the ActiveCaptain service that provides information on places of interest, “social” mapping that allows users to report critical issues or changes such as incorrect depths, obstructions, etc., and a TimeZero™ Cloud Data Service that will allow backing up and synchronizing data between TimeZero™ devices. Officially unveiled at the 2015 Miami International Boat Show, NavNet TZtouch2 will be available as early as this spring. www.furuno.it
