The latest Mylius, the 15E25, will be on the dock at the TAG Heuer VELAFestival: an Italian premiere dedicated to all sailors who like to sail comfortable but fast.
ANIMA RACER
The new Mylius 15E25 has a soul that is definitely more “racer” than cruiser. This is confirmed by the nearly flat deckhouse, carbon hull construction, mast configuration, PBO rigging, and minimal, weight-saving interior. In fact, the boat, ready to sail, does not exceed 10 tons (not bad for a 50-foot boat with a maximum beam of 4.42 meters). Certainly, with “arietta,” the Piacenza shipyard’s new jewel promises sparks, given also its 148 sq. m. sail plan.
BLANKET “FLUSH”
The only exception to the carbon on board is the teak-covered deck, a touch of elegance without overdoing it, since it was designed for competitive use anyway. Crew work is facilitated by a virtually “flush” surface and the wide walkways in the bow and on the sides. The mainsail carriage (which is maneuvered with German-style circuitry) is recessed into the cockpit (characterized by the double wheelhouse), a solution already seen on Botin’s TP52s: perhaps maintenance-wise it is more challenging, but the risk of getting hurt in the cockpit is reduced and it also benefits aesthetics.
SHIPOWNERS’ IMPRINT ON THE INTERIOR
The design, as usual, was entrusted to Alberto Simeone: but this time the designer, in defining the interior layout, worked closely with the owners, Aldo and Elena Parisotto, both architects. The collaboration resulted in solutions not yet seen on previous Mylius boats, starting with the galley with a sink recessed into the engine compartment, a solution reminiscent of those adopted on some boats by Gérman Frers in the 1980s. The shipyard offers two different layouts, both with three cabins and two bathrooms, but with the option of either a double or a twin cabin in the bow. The price of the boat is around 670,000 euros. www.mylius.it
