It wasobviously an April Fool‘s joke the news we published this morning squealing about a Massimo Moratti new owner of Luna Rossa, after Bertelli left. The news was peppered with a number of clues that further heightened suspicions of a hoax: the shot about Mourinho being team manager, the phantom British TV station “Grey Mullet Channel,” literally “Mullet Channel,” a reference to fish. Some people fell for it, others ate it up, the Gazzetta dello Sport quoted us in an article on the funniest “fish” of the day.
APRIL FISH? YES, BUT.
But now, after the decision was made in the America’s Cup to abandon the idea of AC62s by virtue of smaller boats, a choice that had seen Patrizio Bertelli and Luna Rossa the staunchest opponents, an actual abandonment by the Tuscan entrepreneur may be coming in earnest. More than an April Fool’s joke, it is a real hoax for Italy, as Luna Rossa’s exit from the Cup could jeopardize the AC World Series event scheduled to take place in Cagliari from June 4 to 7…
