Carbon hulls and a diesel electric motor. These are the new features for the new Mattia 52 Full Carbon, which is already at an advanced stage of construction. The deck has already been unmolded from the mold, and these days the hull infusion has also been completed, which will save 2,000 kg. Next, the project includes the installation of thermal/electric propulsion, which has a number of advantages over the traditional solution of two diesel engines and generator.
First, a displacement saving of 100 kg that parallels better mechanical efficiency. During sailing, this system allows for less friction because the two arms of the propellers (which can be fixed and provide more efficiency than closable ones) can be rotated off the water surface in addition to the fact that the electric motors can be used as power generators while sailing. These engines allow travel at a cruising speed of nine knots at 2,000 engine revolutions with low fuel consumption, low noise and pollution.
THE PROGE
MATTIA 52 FULL CARBON
As for the hull design, on the other hand, the cockpit and dinette are generously sized with the aim of ensuring maximum comfort, and a double wheelhouse is armed at the stern, which together with the side windows of the deckhouse gives the catamaran a decidedly sporty line. Completely renovated, on the other hand, is the interior design, with the owner’s area positioned in the starboard hull thus allowing towards the bow a large bathroom with separate shower stall and a relaxation area in the middle, plus and large closets. In the port hull we find two double cabins, one with a double bed and one with twin beds, aft, both with bathrooms.

Double rudder wheel: when racing serves cruising
double rudder wheel is now almost a must-have for the majority of boats on the market but, in reality, it is a requirement that originated well back in time, for racing. Like so many arrangements developed for competition, however, it
