Tuscany. As many as 650 berths (from 8 to 36 meters long, for draughts ranging from 2 to 6 meters deep) are equipped at Marina Cala de’ Medici, located between Rosignano and Castiglioncello, in the province of Livorno. A strategic location just a few miles from the main Tuscan islands (and less than 50 from Corsica), along a stretch of coastline rich in natural beauty and medieval villages. Important within the Marina are the shipbuilding facilities, which also have a 100-ton travel lift and a 3.5-ton bigo. Cala De’ Medici is a modern-day marina, the kind that becomes the hub of community life: in fact, a veritable commercial village with stores, bars, restaurants, an ice cream parlor, and a pizzeria is active within it. Under ecological standards then a blue island has been equipped, where used engine oils, batteries and bilge wastewater can be collected. Tel. 0586 795211, www.marinacalademedici.it
