First Solaris 50′, built by the SE.RI.GI shipyard. Designed by Soto
Acebal and Lucio Micheletti, the Friulian shipyard’s 15-meter boat combines pure racer performance with the exterior and interior roominess of a long-distance cruiser, interpreting that compromise according to the canons ofItalian Style.
Solaris50_895A flagship of Italian shipbuilding, the boat also arms sails made in Italy. Designing and making them is Marco Holm Veleria, the only one in our country to use the innovative“Millenium film on film” technology. With the use of dry but flexible fibers and the assembly of films and materials designed to increase UV resistance, the Millenium film-on-film membrane” allows the removal of taffeta outer coatings, normally applied as UV wear deterrents, from sails. The end result is important: sails that are resistant to the action of ultraviolet but are lighter and striking at a glance because of the transparencies and play of light and shadow created by the fibers themselves.
