PhinnaAmong the many events you can take part in during the TAG Heuer VELAFestival, April 10-13 in the Marina at the Genoa Fairgrounds, is a live presentation dedicated to INOXSAIL. A company that, founded in 2011 by architect Roberto Bosi, has as its mission the dissemination of sailing culture through immediately usable technological innovation. That’s why, on the very first day of the TAG Heuer VELAFestival, on Thursday, April 10, starting at 3 p.m. in the Great Events Area, Bosi himself will tell in an interactive lecture-which will mix images, words and video-everything about INOXSAIL’s flagship product, PHINNA.

DISCOVERING PHINNA
What is it all about? PHINNA is precisely a drift fin with a variable airfoil cross-section that makes it possible, thanks to its futuristic and technological design, to overcome the inherent limitation of the symmetry of the airfoils of current drifts. In other words, PHINNA is a real “wing” submerged under the hull that “swims” in the flow developing the best lift, in all weather conditions, and thus improving the performance of the boat mounting it in terms of speed and angle to the wind. Made of AISI 316 steel, reinforced polymers, self-lubricating PTFE and aluminum, PHINNA is designed to support the stresses induced by heavy lead ballasts.

TECHNOLOGICAL INNOVATION
In short, there will be a unique opportunity for TAG Heuer VELAFestival visitors to meet the entire INOXSAIL crew, including the designers, and to get detailed information about PHINNA and its possible applications and the company’s innovative technology. In fact, INOXSAIL began its activity within PoliHub, the business incubator of the Milan Polytechnic, which serves as the first witness to innovation and the ability to anticipate trends in the nautical field and in the business of new entrepreneurship. INOXSAIL has therefore set its hallmarks from the beginning as a company that can combine innovation and tradition by bringing added value to the principles that have consecrated sailing throughout the centuries.

THE FUTURE OF BOATING
In addition to PHINNA, the construction technology INOXSAIL allows you to design metal boats (steel, titanium or aluminum) and, using the sandwich of thin plates coupled with a numerically controlled machined structural core, of Solve the problem of increased weight of these types of hulls, which have always been appreciated for their robustness and security. It is an innovative technology that eliminates the main causes of structural collapses and enables structurally safe, homogeneous and isotropic boats that are unsinkable, durable and fast.
