Lady Cup, women get their party on by racing in La Spezia

There is no better way for a female sailor than to celebrate March 8 by racing. Women, are you ready to line up on the starting line? Tomorrow in La Spezia will be “Women of the Sea Day,” complete with a regatta exclusively for female crews. This is the first edition of the “Lady Cup”: an event created by the synergy put in place by the Gulf of Poets Sailing Clubs Committee.

The regatta is reserved for pink crews consisting of helmswoman and tailer aboard Meteor class boats provided by La Spezia owners (who will be on board in the very strict role of observer). Based on the number of registered crews (with a maximum figure of thirty couples), the regatta will see multiple selection batteries held in the waters in front of the Italy Pier, leading to the final with the best ten crews. At the end of the Regattas the Awards Ceremony at the Harbor Village in the presence of Alessandra Sensini, Susanne Beyer and Fanja Raffellini.
