Modugno sang in his most famous song how beautiful it was to fly. And the Italians are now trying. The managment of the GC32 class, the foiling catamaran version produced by Premiere Composite starting in late 2012, invited Team Italy to test the boat in France, at La Grand Motte. Together with the team manager Enrico Zennaro, the French trip is attended by a trio of wonders: Francesco Marrai and Martino Tortarolo, a promising young Italian sailor already organic to the team that took part in the Red Bull Youth America’s Cup in San Francisco, and the outfielder Tommaso Chieffi, tactician of Team-Italy at the Extreme 40 Pirelli Regatta.
WITH 15 KNOTS OF AIR YOU SAIL AT 30
Enrico Zennaro said he was “very curious to test the new version of the GC32,” and said he was “excited about foiling, an experience I haven’t had a chance to try yet. Talking to the organizers , I learned that already with 15 knots of air it is possible to exceed 30 knots of speed-these are peaks that few sailors can claim to have touched during their careers. We are counting on the favorable weather conditions to fully enjoy this experience.”
