seriousThere is not only the Cantiere del Pardo with its Grand Soleils but also the French shipyard Dufour, the second domestic manufacturer after the Beneteau group, to break away from the ownership of the German group Bavaria, becoming independent again.

AN ITALIAN IN CHARGE
The new majority shareholder is a group of six managers from the shipyard itself, main shareholder is Italian Salvatore Serio who has been president of the shipyard since 2008 and was responsible for completing the complex financial transaction that led to the new ownership of the French brand.

I RETROSCENE
The transaction, which went through a court settlement, was concluded thanks to the support of local La Rochelle institutions, which provided a 4.5-million-euro loan against the guarantee of the production plant and an additional 3-million-euro loan from a French banking pool. In contrast, Italian banks credited with three million euros waived their claims of about 3 million euros. It should be recalled that Dufour was previously linked to the Italian Cantiere del Pardo because in 2001 43% of Dufour was acquired by the Italians and then, in a pinwheel of divestments and acquisitions, Dufour and Cantiere del Pardo itself became part of the German Bavaria Group, controlled by the U.S. investment funds Anchorage and Oaktree Capital.

WHAT’S NEW IN THE PIPELINE
Dufour, which boasts sales of about 40 million euros and more than 300 boats sold per year, continues to churn out exciting new products of all sizes from 9 to 18 meters; has just unveiled the new Dufour 310 GL with good success at the recent Paris Motor Show and is about to unveil the shipyard’s new flagship, the 560 GL, which will be premiered at the Turkish Istanbul Motor Show in early February.
