posterCivitanova MarcheThe “Delta Motors Cup – Campionato Italiano Assoluto di Vela d’Altura” (Delta Motors Cup – Absolute Italian Championship of Offshore Sailing), the most important sailing event on the national scene aimed at larger boats, was presented this morning at the headquarters of the Portocivitanova Sailing Club. Hosted for the first time in Marche waters, it will take place in Civitanova Marche (Macerata) Aug. 25-29 and is organized by the Portocivitanova Sailing Club in collaboration with the Italian Sailing Federation (FIV), the Italian Deep Sea Sailing Union (UVAI), Offshore Racing Congress (ORC), Marche Region, CONI Marche, Municipality of Civitanova Marche, Port Authority and Lega Navale Italiana Sezione di Civitanova Marche, and with the support of Delta Motors (title sponsor) and Lombardini Marine (main sponsor).

“In the intention of the event’s organizers and stakeholders, the Delta Motors Cup aims to become a true showcase of the Marche region’s potential,” the statement by Cristiana Mazzaferro, president of the organizing club. “Our club has more than 50 years of competitive activity at the highest level behind it. Along this path, dialogue with institutions and the entire territory has been and remains fundamental to the development of all our activities. The organization of this regatta will be no exception, and several months in advance, we have set to work to build an event that allows for dialogue and exchange at the local and national levels.”

from left Sergio Valente - Riccardo Provini -Piergiorgio Balboni - Cristiana Mazzaferro - Francesco Ettorre - Fabrizio GagliardiMr. Luca Marconi, Councilor of the Marche Region, also spoke about the event’s potential in terms of economy and tourism: “Our region’s coastline and marinas should be considered today as one of the most important drivers for local tourism. The Delta Motors Cup is making its contribution in this sense, that is, raising awareness of the importance of managing and making the most of the potential of the coastline. At the economic level, Marche has been able to develop some sectors very well, such as manufacturing, still little has been done for tourism. In this sense, boating and boating-related sports can make a decisive contribution.”

“The municipal administration,” said Piergiorgio Balboni, Civitanova Marche City Council’s Sports Councillor, “supports all the club’s competitive initiatives because it believes in the educational value of this discipline, which is able to convey positive values with speed and impact. In addition to special initiatives, in fact, together with the company’s instructors we promote sailing in the schools of Civitanova Marche.” On the same wavelength was Giulio Lucidi, CONI Marche regional councilor, who framed his sponsorship within the “Sport and Tourism” (2011) and “Sport and Legality” projects.

Established in 1994, the Italian Absolute Offshore Sailing Championship is a sailing event that has always involved the best sailors nationally and internationally. The organizers of this edition hope to go beyond the successes of past editions, exceeding 40 entries, due to the new criteria for admission to the regatta: from this year, participation is open and any shipowner can participate without going through a prior qualification process. Two months after the start, the number of members continues to increase and to date there are already leading hulls on the Italian scene such as “Scugnizza” by Vincenzo De Blasio, “Due R… in the wind” by Roberto Reccanello, “Selene Alifax” by Massimo De Campo, “Morgan IV” by Nicola De Gemmis, “Mummy One” by Alessio Querin, “Vlag” by Luca Baldino, as well as the local “Folgore” by Piero Paniccia, “Altair 3” by Sandro Paniccia, “MP30+10” by Luca Pierdomenico and the Slovakian “Quebramar” by Peter Mosny.

“I am confident that the work of the organizing club will live up to our expectations, and that on the water, as per tradition, we will experience great racing and heated duels. The quality of the team working on the organization of the regatta gives hope for a crowded edition despite the fact that the sector is coming from a period of crisis,” said Francesco Ettorre, FIV vice president. FIV board member in charge of the offshore sector, Fabrizio Gagliardi sent a message to shipowners: “The appointment is at the end of August and since there is still time ahead of us, I invite all shipowners to register for this Italian Championship, because it is an event that has no equal. We are talking about the only Italian titles awarded in offshore sailing, so the value of this regatta is higher than any other event and deserves special attention.”

According to Sergio Quirino Valente and Riccardo Provini, UVAI advisor and technical director respectively, it was “mandatory” to hold an edition of the Italian Absolute Offshore Sailing Championship in the Adriatic because the level of crews and the number of boats are growing precisely on the eastern side of the peninsula. “I am sure that the hospitality and the beauty of this land will make the next Championship an unforgettable event, both from a competitive and logistical point of view,” stressed Francesco Siculiana, UVAI president. “Who knows if we will see a new challenge between the two stars of the house, Alberto Rossi and Marco Serafini? I hope to see in Civitanova Marche other veterans from the World Championship as well, but I am in any case sure that it will be a great Italian Championship, and I finally hope to be a protagonist of it myself.”

The event is designed to be usable by all, both the deep connoisseurs of sailing and the simply passionate and curious. As such, the program of events at sea, which includes five days of regattas on the buoys, has been complemented by an equally rich calendar of events on land, involving not only the clubhouse but also the waterfront. A village with gazebos and various forms of entertainment will be set up inside the Portocivitanova Sailing Club, the event’s left ventricle. The race courses will be positioned in the stretch of water in front of the marina so that the public can also watch the races from the beach.

Highlights include the official regatta poster, created by Doric artist Guido Armeni as a tribute to sailing and the territory.

Guido Armeni Sign the manifesto (1)THE POSTER, THE THRILL OF SAILING FRAMED IN GLIMPSES OF A SPECTACULAR TERRITORY
The celebratory poster of the “Delta Motors Cup – Campionato Italiano Assoluto di Vela d’Altura” is unique in the history of this competition. It comes from the hands of such an established artist as Guido Armeni and is intended to be a tribute to the sails and at the same time to the beauty of the host area.

To Armeni’s eyes, the Civitanova Marche event looks like a bright panorama of the Macerata hills, portrayed in summer, when the yellow of sunflowers and the gold of ripe wheat enhance the blue of the sea on the horizon. Against this backdrop, Armeni inserted colorful triangles, representing the regatta boats sailing between the sea and the local countryside. The work was created in the recent expressive form of the master from Ancona, who uses art photographs as a support for his creations (the poster photo was taken by Recanati photographer Eleonora Rossi).

“We are proud to be able to use the suggestions of an artist of Guido Armeni’s caliber to celebrate the name of the event with the competitors and the citizens of Civitanova,” Cristiana Mazzaferro emphasizes. “Our city, like many other towns on the Marche coast, has always been linked to both the sea and the countryside because both are still important assets of the local economy. This poster, celebrating the Delta Motors Cup, pays tribute to the whole area.”

The vision Armeni has poured into the manifesto is the child of his great passion, that of sailing. Ancona resident, a sculptor and painter by profession, Guido Armeni has been sailing for nearly 50 years, is a federal instructor at Club Nautico Falconara, and is well acquainted with the excitement and sacrifices involved in a regatta.

Competitively, his name is linked to that of Andelstanken, an imperishable IOR hull with a rainbow title written on its palmares. As owner and helmsman of Andelstanken, Armeni has enjoyed a long trail of success as its owner and helmsman.

At the Delta Motors Cup Armeni will not stand idly by but, at the helm of the new Farr 30 “Team Andelstanken” will fight for the top spot in Group B.

DELTA MOTORS CUP, AUTOMOTIVE SUPPORTS OFFSHORE SAILING
Italy’s major automotive brands are rediscovering sailing as a driver capable of ensuring effective, impactful communication that carries healthy values such as energy, freedom, elegance and respect for the environment. According to the recent survey “Car industry: global sponsorship analysis,” conducted by IMR Sports Marketing, globally the automotive industry invests about $1.30 billion in sports.

The figure is concretely reflected in the economy of the Macerata area, where Delta Motors SpA has made official its support for the 2015 Campionato Italiano Assoluto d’Altura 2015 (Civitanova Marche, August 25 – 29). The Marche-based company, the dealer of the Mercedes-Benz, Smart, Hyundai, Kia, and Volvo brands for the provinces of Ancona and Macerata, has entered into a title sponsorship agreement with the Portocivitanova Sailing Club, and thanks to its involvement, the event takes on a new naming: “Delta Motors Cup – Campionato Italiano Assoluto di Vela d’Altura.” To highlight the strong link between the company’s activities and the event, the marketing division created the dedicated payoff “passion for sport” (reminiscent of the institutional payoff “passion for excellence”).

“The guiding values of our company are identified with those conveyed by sailing,” stresses Maurizio Marzetti, after-sales manager of Delta Motors. “In addition to performance and style, respect for the environment plays a central role in our business. We have made a massive investment in renewable energy, with the goal of creating an environmentally sustainable dealership.

A program materialized, in a first phase, with the adaptation of the concessionaire to the minimum standards for the maintenance and protection of the state of health of the environment and citizens: the construction of a massive photovoltaic plant, capable of covering and exceeding the needs of the company. In the future, the project plans further efforts in the area of setting up awareness campaigns and concrete initiatives targeting motorists, especially the younger ones, regarding the use of electric-powered vehicles within urban areas.
To the best crews in each grouping, the company will award the Delta Motors Trophy.

LOMBARDINI MARINE TIES UP WITH ITALIAN OFFSHORE SAILING CHAMPIONSHIPS
Having already linked up with the offshore boat world by sponsoring the Lombardini Marine Trophy – UVAI Owner of the Year, Lombardini Marine, a division of the Kohler Group that manufactures and markets marine engines and gensets based on the well-established and proven FOCS and CHD thrusters, returns to invest in sailing, linking up with the Italian Offshore Sailing Absolute Championship.

Equipped with an extremely modern and well-equipped facility, the company can count on a team of men with proven experience in the nautical sector and decades of know-how capable of transferring to the product what is most functional and technologically advanced available on the market today.

U-SAILS SIGNS THE OFFICIAL JERSEY OF THE ABSOLUTE ITALIAN OFFSHORE SAILING CHAMPIONSHIPS
There is also great connection to the territory for the official jersey of the “Delta Motors Cup – Campionato Italiano Assoluto di Vela d’Altura,” which will be made by U-Sails, a company from the Marche region that is a leader in the sportswear sector and particularly appreciated in the sailing world.

Joining the technical partners of the Civitanova kermesse, U-Sails today unveiled a long-sleeve T-shirt in technical fabric, made and finished in Italy. Right away the features: eye-catching and understated design, breathable, UV-protective, hypoallergenic and antibacterial, the official regatta uniform is able to contain sweat, insulating the sailors’ bodies from heat and cold while sailing.

The jersey lands in the Civitanova square after garnering significant international acclaim: it was tested by the national junior Olympic sailing team Youth Games in China and by Team Audi for the entire Melges class circuit.
