Another feather in the yard’s cap are the high technologies used in construction (such as the use of lightened panels) and the quality of fine craftsmanship. The numbers of this hull also catch the eye: 12 tons of weight is little compared to hulls in the same category (about 25 percent less); the sail area upwind is 140 sq. m., which becomes 400 in carrying gaits.
The shell and deck are laminated in female molds using epoxy-infused glass and carbon fibers; the carbon structures are laminated in place under vacuum, becoming one with the hull and deck. These choices, in addition to keeping weight down, give the boat a solidity and sturdiness capable of withstanding the repeated stresses and heavy loads of the most demanding sailings. The interior, the first renders of which are not yet available, comes in two arrangements and gives the option of choosing many finishing materials and details. Structural liquid tanks are allocated under the floorboard to lower the center of gravity and expand the kitchen’s ample storage and refrigeration space.
THE STUDY OF APPENDICES
Another of its strengths is versatility related to possible keel configurations. In particular, the choice between a lifting keel type , which allows the draft to be changed from almost 3.7 meters to 2.3 meters, and a standard version keel, which at delcustomer need will vary from 2.30 meters to about 3.2 meters, allows the ICE 52 to be adapted to all needs and uses. These options are also related to the optimization of torpedo weight, which is specially sized and numerically controlled.
The fin made of high-characteristic Weldox steel and the numerically controlled lead torpedo also offer the advantage of percentage reduction in ballast weight and thus decreasing the total displacement of the boat, with the same righting moment.
The rudder promises impressive control even when the boat is heeled or subjected to large hydrodynamic loads.
THE DECK DESIGN
Aft of the wheelhouses is a large lounging area, with direct access to the sea via the functional opening stern that serves as a small beach and entrance to the garage, where the large tender (mt, 2.70 without deflating it) can be stowed.
The cockpit, featuring wide benches and comfortable paramare backs, allows not only comfortable protected sailing but also gives space for a large dining table. By being able to raise the level of the dinette dunnage, bringing it closer to that of the cockpit, entry is made easier. In addition, thanks to the large front side windows, interaction with the outdoor environment is enhanced. Deck equipment, designed to be the best in racing, never interferes with the comfort of the boat.
The boat is equipped with an electrically furling jib system, positioned below deck, and dolphins were anchor holders where the gennaker could be attached. The mast, possibly also high modulus, and boom are made of carbon and autoclave laminated. The sail plan is characterized by a genoa with no overlap, no flying shrouds, and shroud attachment positioned directly on the hull.
