The Masserotti Trophy established by the Unione Vela d’Altura Italiana and reserved for the Owner who has excelled during the season in the ranking that includes the forty most important regattas on the calendar, was won by Giuseppe Giuffré (YC Chiavari), who this year with his M37 Low Noise took home, among others, the titles of European Champion and World Offshore ORC International Champion. Giuffré, who for the past few weeks has been the owner of a new Low Noise, an Italia 9.98 custom, won the title overall and in Class 3, a trophy presented to him by UVAI President Francesco Siculiana, preceding by a whisker (0.04 points) Alessandro Burzi, owner of Globulo Rosso, second overall and winner in Class 4. Third overall and first in Class 1, Andrea Pietrolucci of the Mylius 14E55 Milu, while the other winners are. Massimo De Campo with his Dehler 44 Selene in Class 2, Guido Paolo Gamucci, owner of the Cookson 50 Cippa Lippa, in Class A, and Oscar Tonoli with his ILC 26 Energy Solution among the Minialturas.
ITALIAN OFFSHORE CHAMPIONSHIP
Filed the Owner of the Year, attention was then turned to the awards ceremony for the 2014 Italian Offshore Championship, the national circuit that brings together the fourteen most important offshore regattas on the calendar and involved more than 360 boats. Again, great was the struggle at the top for the overall title, which was won by the J-111 Black Bull by Piero Plato (also first in Class 2) ahead of First 36.7 Bluone by Leonardo Servi (first in Class 4) and to the X-40 Pita Maha of Renzo Grottesi (first in Class 3). Andrea Pietrolucci ‘s Mylius 14E55 Milù took the win in Class 1, Guido Paolo Gamucci ‘s Cookson 50 Cippa Lippa 8 in Class A, and Massimo Juris and Pietro Luciani ‘s First 40 Blue Colombre took the win in the reduced crew (x2) classification.
