150314-vanuatu-cyclone-pam-1018a_89c9c5394c488896fb37353209b12702Vanuatu, the Melanesian archipelago sailing paradise, was devastated by Cyclone Pam. All great sailors (including Bernard Moitessier) have had Vanuatu, with its 83 pristine concrete-free islands, volcanoes, beaches and dreamy nature, as the purpose of their sailings in the world’s seas. Not surprisingly, it was considered “the happiest country in the world.” The gallery we show you documents the full destructive force of the cyclone. A category five tropical storm with flooding, rainfall and winds up to 300 km/h. For now, 44 people are reported dead, but it is impossible to make estimates and the number, unfortunately, is bound to rise.

WHAT A DEVASTATION!
