FUTURE. When the boat is delivered to you from the sky

Take a good look at this photo, the boat is delivered by air travel, piloted by a drone. The fascinating hypothesis is formulated by Hanse Yachts, which plans to eliminate the expensive and dangerous transport of boats by land, replacing it with a remote-controlled flying contraption from which the boat is suspended.

The Germans at Hanse aren’t kidding, here’s what Arne Amann, head of logistics, says: “Transportation costs continue to rise and boats are getting bigger and bigger. The roads were not designed to transport objects as large as yachts. So we are studying alternative, less expensive and safer solutions.” At Hanse, they say the first test of drone air transportation could already happen next year. The biggest problem to be solved is that of battery charging stations, especially in the most remote places in the world.
