Sea intakes and valves, if they break while underway, are likely to do really big damage. If you need to make an emergency repair at sea, instead of relying on the old system of a cork in the pipe to prevent water from entering while you work on the socket (a method that is not quick and very inconvenient when the cork then has to be removed), you might opt for the more practical Seabung.
