But there are several countries, from North Africa to the Near East, that have developed a very interesting network of ports. In Tunisia, for example, Port El Kantaoui in Sousse, with its elegant village overlooking the canals, and the modern Port Yasmine in Hammamet, a true tourist hub, stand out, easily reached by flight from Italy. Projects for new ports and the redevelopment of existing marinas, such as the one in Casablanca, have also started in Morocco. Two destinations on the launch pad at the eastern end of the Mediterranean are Lebanon and Israel. Port development is booming here: these are ideal lands for boaters seeking places rich in history.
