life-easy-edgeHere are five new accessories that, on board, will make your life even easier: from the new wireless radar system to sailboat sonar, from the water-jet thruster to the instant bale sealer.

furunoFURUNO DRS4W
With the new wireless radar system unveiled by Furuno, a major revolution has taken place in the world of on-board electronics. The DRS4W radar antenna communicates directly with iOS systems-so you can view radar data directly on your iPad or iPhone. Unlike apps that turn your device into a repeater/controller of the multifunction instrument, in this case the radar communicates directly with your tablet (taking advantage of exceptional visibility provided by the Retina display) and smartphone through a dedicated app, Marine Radar, which can be downloaded for free from Apple’s App Store: you can say goodbye to large, expensive and bulky fixed radar screens, especially on medium-sized boats. But that’s not all: you will also forget about the wiring and, most importantly, you can have data on multiple devices. www.furuno.com

rupture sealRUPTURE SEAL
Rupture Seal instantly seals leaks on board: both those in the tanks and bilge pumps, and (small) ones in the hull following a collision. It consists of a silicone-based spherical plug traversed by a rod that ends in a locking system. Simply insert Rupture Seal inside the leak and then pull the rod to seal the leak. www.ruptureseal.com

From B&G comes the new ForwardScan, the first front-facing sonar designed for sailors, ideal for locating anchor points and signaling shoals or obstacles lurking below the surface of the water. It can be mounted on boats of all sizes and has an effective range of eight times the current depth. It combines with SonarHub and the B&G Zeus2 and Zeus2 Glass Bridge systems. Price: 852.78 euros + VAT. www.bandg.com

si14-wearitSI14 WEARIT
There’s a lot of talk about Apple’s new watch, but in Italy we already have our own smartwatch: it is WearIT, a hi-tech Android wristwatch developed by the Padua-based company SI14, which has signed an agreement with Luna Rossa to be the official supplier when it comes to wireless technology, sensors and integration services on the Cup catamaran. Equipped with a touch display, WearIT will have numerous features. www.si14.com

JT-50_boot combiJET THRUSTER
This innovative maneuvering system is suitable for all types of sailboats up to 60 feet. Jet Thruster consists of a priming pump that sends seawater to two or four augers located at the extreme bow/stern and selectable via an electric three-way valve. The system can be single or combined (bow and stern) also with a single pump unit. There are 4 output powers (30,50,70,90 kgf) depending on the type of boat. The system comes with a cockpit joystick control or an optional wireless remote control. Prices: from 3,280 euros + VAT. www.jetthruster.com
