The new edition of the Extreme Sailing Series, unveiled the other day in London, looks like the training ground for the protagonists of the next America’s Cup. Aboard the spectacular 40-foot catamarans racing along the shores of the world’s most important cities will surely be Britain’s Ben Ainsle, multiple Olympic champion and fresh America’s Cup winner with Oracle. Frenchman Franck Cammas, winner of the last Volvo Ocean Race, also returns to the circuit, which will take place over eight legs in Europe, Asia and the Middle East, and also heads d a new transalpine America’s Cup team. The Swiss team of Ernesto Bertarelli, winner of two editions of the “Cup” with Alinghi, will not be missing.
