When dreams are big, you try everything to turn them into reality. There’s no crisis to be had, and when there’s no money, the challenge becomes even more intriguing. So Gaetano Mura came up with Faceboat a crowdfunding to raise the money needed to return to the Ocean. “When you have dreams in your head, when you have plans about the future and you are determined to see them realized, you have to be charged up and do it with all your might. I want to keep traveling in the Ocean, and that’s why I thought of the Faceboat fundraiser.” This is how Gaetano Mura, an ocean sailor from Cala Gonone, tells us, “Mine is a message to all people who love sailing, sailing adventure, sailing through ocean waves, but also to those who do not sail but are fascinated by this world.” But what exactly is it all about? Faceboat is an internet fundraising system where Gaetano Mura asks for financial support “each according to his or her possibilities, because you can contribute even ten euros.” In return, Gaetano is offering to sail with him in the Mediterranean and Ocean: with supporters’ photography that will be pasted on the hull, but will also be featured on the website www.gaetanomura.com with the supporters’ image gallery. Everyone will be invited to get on the boat and see their picture when bet1128, Gaetano Mura’s Class 40, calls at ports in Italy, Europe and every other corner of the planet.
THE PROGRAM FOR 2015
“I restart from here, from my Mediterranean with bet1128 Sailing Team participating in three regattas in 2015: Romax1 (solo), Rome-Giraglia-Rome (solo), and the legendary Mille Miglia del Mare, the Rimini-Corfu-Rimini (in doubles with my legendary friend and bet1128 builder Bert Mauri, which has already won a few editions in the past and is now among the best-known and best-known Class 40 builders)”: the Rimini-Corfù-Rimini is the longest regatta on the Adriatic, returning to the sporting calendar after 14 years. Departure is scheduled for July 4. This is the program, but the goal of the Faceboat project is to return to the ocean with the support of enthusiasts.
