It is the largest nautical event in the world capable of attracting more than 1.5 million visitors and more than 600 vintage boats. So off you go, hop on the first low-cost flight to the capital of the Netherlands and dive into sailing history!
THE PARADE IS UNMISSABLE
SAIL begins according to tradition with the parade: hundreds of ships sail into the IJ (Amsterdam’s waterfront) creating a unique and unforgettable spectacle. Several races on the water take place in the following days, including the Skûtsjesilen (regatta of typical Frisian boats). The Royal Netherlands Navy also showcases its skills on the water. Alongside activities on the water, there is much more to do on the piers. The SAIL program boasts entertainment, art, culture, music, sports and activities for children.

A SNEAK PREVIEW
A few days before the event you can see a preview of the fleet, in IJmuiden, where the boats gather for the parade. The so-called PreSail IJmuiden (Aug. 15-18) attracts thousands of boat lovers, sportsmen and many others. www. presailijmond.nl
