Alessandro Comuzzi is a designer who makes creativity one of his hallmarks: we recently presented you with his demountable cat, now it is the turn of the Daysailer 950, custom-designed and thus totally taking into account the needs of the owner.
COVER
The first requirement was the ability to handle the boat completely independently: hence the deck that allows one to get to the bow without facing steps or climbing onto the deck to make mooring or rig the headsails. The boat then develops with an elongated cockpit all the way to the forward part, interrupted only by the jib stringer (self-tacking), which can be lifted in two halves if necessary to allow easy passage, even while sailing.
MANOVERS
The maneuvers are all within easy reach and are served exclusively by a single central winch. All rigging also is concealed to achieve maximum cleanliness of the boat. The mainsail sheet also comes out, like all other rigging, from the center console and is therefore within easy reach of the helmsman.
HULL, SAILS, CONSTRUCTION
The hull is designed to have good stability and speed even with little wind. In fact, the boat is designed for summer thermal winds and has sail area of 47 square meters. This is a non-exaggerated area clearly justified by the predominantly single use. One can then rig a gennaker or Code zero. The boat is built of mahogany laminated wood as far as the hull is concerned, and the internal structure is made of marine plywood and epoxy resin. This provides great rigidity and lightness. Being a daysailer, it is equipped with all kinds of amenities: inboard engine, a fresh and salt water shower, refrigerator, autopilot, swim ladder.
