Announcement for match-race enthusiasts and for those who want to experience the thrill of one-on-one racing for the first time: there will be two Bavaria B/One, the “coolest” monotypes of the moment (born from the pencil of Bruce Farr), on the dock in Genoa, ready to welcome you aboard.
CHOOSE YOUR SCHEDULE
The initiative, promoted by M3 Nautical Services, is called “Taste of Match-race”: a series of pre-booked outings aboard the B/One along with a qualified instructor. The scheduled exit times are as follows:
-Friday, April 11: 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.
-Saturday, April 12: 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. (compatible with the end of the TAG Heuer Cup sail)
-Sunday, April 13: 11am-1pm and 3-5pm
During activity hours a national match-race judge will explain the rules and maneuvers of the discipline to the public.
HOW TO BOOK
Booking your spot is super easy: just send an email to contatti@m3nautica.it. Life jackets and legal equipment will be provided, and it is recommended that you bring light sailing or drifting clothing with short boots or non-slip shoes. This is an initiative open to sailors with some experience.
With the B/One, a 7-meter one-design, Bavaria makes its entry into the world of small racing boats. The keel features a liftable torpedo so that the boat can be easily transported on a trolley. The hull design, by Bruce Farr, includes the now “classic” aft edges, albeit not very pronounced and located rather high up. The relatively small size of the cockpit translates into more space below deck, where up to 4 bunks can be made (plus there is a chemical toilet). The sail plan of the monotype churned out by the German shipyard is not extreme: 21 square meters of mainsail, 11 of jib and 46 of gennaker; thanks also to a radical simplification of the maneuvers, the monotype can be comfortably led by three people, and these features (well-dimensioned sail plan and design philosophy focused on easy sailing) make it an ideal boat both for those who want to have fun in exciting regattas and for those who are approaching the world of sailing and want to do so on a small “school-boat.”
