licenseThe theory part of the boating license exam both within and beyond 12 miles from next July 15 will be in the form of quizzes, like the one for the car license, and no longer oral. We asked the La Spezia Port Authority, which confirmed this change, which follows a circular issued on April 4, 2014 by the Genoa Maritime Directorate. This news relates to the La Spezia and Genoa Captaincies; the examination method will be the same throughout the country.

NEW THEORY TEST HOW EXAM CHANGES

The ParmaVela school website has studied the Genoa Coast Guard’s circular in depth and outlined the new formula for the theory exam within and beyond 12 miles.

A maximum time of fifteen minutes is allowed for the conduct of the test. The test is passed if the proposed exercise is correctly performed and solved, in which case the candidate enters the next stage. A candidate who fails the test is judged unfit and is excluded from the examination.

The second stage consists of solving the basic questionnaire, administered through examination forms, consisting of twenty questions; each question has three answer alternatives of which only one is correct. A maximum time of thirty minutes is allowed for the performance of the test. A maximum number of three errors are allowed for passing: in this case the candidate enters the practical test. With the fourth error, the candidate is judged unsuitable and is excluded from the examination. An answer not given is counted as an incorrect answer. The correct answer is indicated by clearly placing an X in the space provided.
