Them again. The two flying engineers, the undisputed phenomena of the Nacra 17 mixed class. Them again, our most concrete medal hope ahead of Rio 2016. Vittorio Bissaro and Silvia Sicouri win the Miami leg of the ISAF Sailing World Cup in style, confirming that they are the strongest specialists in the world aboard this catamaran.
EARLY VICTORY
The two, neo Fiamme Azzurre, triumphed with a day to spare:in fact, 26 points separate them from the British Saxton/Groves, and since the medal race awards a maximum of 20 points Vittorio and Silvia have victory already in the bag. And it is a repeat of last year: also in early 2014 the two had started their ride by winning in the waters of Miami. The Nacra 17 world ranking list sees them increasingly in the lead.
OTHER ITALIANS IN MEDAL
Caution though. Eyes are also on the other Italian athletes who have a lot to play for in the medal race today. Giulia Conti and Francesca Clapcich are in second place in the 49er FX, Flavia Tartaglini is third on the women’s RS:X, Mattia Camboni is eighth in the men’s, and Michele Paoletti is tenth in the Finn’s. Come on guys!
