Tomorrow, June 4, the VELA Cup Brindisi takes the stage. Scheduled to include regattas and awards for all, sailing on Moitessier’s legendary Joshua, water sports trials and tastings of Apulian products. There is still time for last minute registrations!
The colorful tribe of sailors from the TAG Heuer VELA Cup 2022 circuit organized by the Journal of Sailing is ready to invade the waters of the Lower Adriatic on June 4 at the TAG Heuer VELA Cup Brindisi. On the agenda are two days of celebration, pure fun and sharing. At the TAG Heuer VELA Cup Brindisi you can participate with any boat from 4 meters and up, no tech sails are needed and no certificate is required. You also do not need to be an experienced sailor to participate. If, on the other hand, you are a regular at the regattas, then good for you, you will have your work cut out for you.

Lined up at the start of this second leg of the TAG Heuer VELA Cup circuit are already some 40 crews, but there is still time to register. The regatta/sailing scheduled for June 4 will last about 3-4 hours, and the race course will be set up on a coastal course. The regatta formula moreover is very simple: whoever finishes first wins, with divisions by homogeneous length classes in the “Cruise” and “Regatta” categories. The overall winner on corrected time will win the prestigious TAG Heuer Aquaracer watch, but other rich prizes, including a Garmin inReach, will also be drawn. Getting two edges on Moitessier’s Joshua: cool!
Also in the VELA Cup Brindisi fleet will be a reproduction of the legendary Joshua, the boat of sailor and ocean sailing guru Bernard Moitessier. Brace yourselves: not only will it be possible to board the Joshua and visit the boat moored at the dock, but since it will be participating in the regatta, everyone will be given the opportunity to be part of its crew while seats last. Everything you need to know about the TAG Heuer VELA Cup 2022
WHO CAN PARTICIPATE-Any type of boat with no age limit; no certificate is required. First place winner, with divisions by homogeneous length classes, “Cruise” (white sail)” and “Regatta” (with gennaker/spi)” categories.
FREE BERTHS – For boats participating and arriving from “outside.”
DURATION AND ROUTE – Each of the “Regattas” lasts no more than 3-4 hours. The route is coastal.
THE EQUIPMENT – You don’t have to be an experienced sailor to participate; you don’t use the “rules of racing” but those of sailing.
PRIZES – Prizes are awarded to the first in each class in the “Cruise” and “Regatta” categories with valuable silk-screened plates. The overall winner in compensated time among all participants wins the prestigious TAG Heuer Aquaracer watch and for first in real time antifouling Speedy from Veneziani. Rich prizes raffled among all participants at the awards ceremony held that evening, up for grabs from Garmin are an InReachMini 2 satellite receiver, an inflatable Sup from Vetus, waterproof gloves from Plastimo, multi-purpose knife from Letherman, and a magical roll-up sailor’s craft from Seably.
