The ocean comes to Milan from June 8 to 12. One Ocean Foundation is bringing it with a series of events spread strategically in attractive locations throughout the Lombard capital. The initiative of the One Ocean foundation chaired by Riccardo Bonadeo is called Milano Ocean Week and involves new ambassador Ambrogio Beccaria, the two-time Ocean Sailor of the Year and fresh presenter of the 2022 edition, which you can review here.
Milan Ocean Week, June 8 to 12
Milan Ocean Week takes place in conjunction with the Salone del Mobile, which attracts tens of thousands of curious people to Milan from all over Italy and the world for the hundreds of events that enliven the city. It is therefore a perfect opportunity to come to Milan and get lost in the city’s neighborhoods that come alive with events open to all. Milan Ocean Week has a packed schedule, here it is:

BAM – Library of Trees Milan – Via Gaetano de Castillia 28
- June 8-12: “Marine Animal Forest” Photography Exhibition – Unpublished shots from around the world to depict the value, beauty, biodiversity and importance of underwater forests.
- June 8-12: Photo Exhibition “Music from the Sea” – visual and sound exhibition to tell the sea in its essence.
- June 8: One Ocean’s Tales: from 9-10:30 p.m., testimonies and short films dedicated to the sea.
- June 10: Musical Performance: from 9-10:30 p.m. musicians from Onde Sonore will create an immersive experience in the sea through the interaction of music, sounds of the sea and art projections.
- June 11-12: Educational Workshops: Educational workshops aimed at learning about the beauty and importance of our Seas: a scientific one dedicated to observing marine microorganisms under a microscope, and an artistic one held by ceramist Bianca Biamonti during which marine species will be made in ceramics.
- June 11-12: Guided minitour of the photo exhibition “Marine Animal Forest” – In-depth educational tours for youth and adults.
- June 12: Performance by the Italian Navy Fanfare: 10:30 to 11:00 a.m.
- June 12: Dialogues for the Environment “Blue – The Blue Ecosystem of Our Planet”: 11 a.m. to noon. Water, a vital element for humans, in an open dialogue with Luisa Cristini, Sandro Carniel and Ambrogio Beccaria
Via del Gesù, Milan – The Way of the Sea
- June 8, 6 p.m. Inauguration ceremony – Via Gesù, since the late 15th century the heart of Milan’s Quadrilateral, is transformed into the first street in a contemporary city to adopt original street furniture that promotes environmental protection, made by recycling 2 tons of fishing nets.

- June 8-12: Exhibition dedicated to the sea economy.
- June 8-11-12: Free guided tours of the Aquarium.

- June 8-12: Free guided tours of museum spaces dedicated to marine ecosystems.
Centrale dell’Acqua Milan – Piazza Diocleziano, 5
- June 9-11: From 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. “Ocean Talk” – Meetings with out-of-the-ordinary people on the front lines for the sea.
Journalist Fabio Pozzo interviews freediver Chiara Obino, OOF Ambassador; Sandro Carniel, oceanographer, researcher and member of the OOF Scientific Committee; Ambrogio Beccaria, ocean sailor; the opening meeting on June 10 with surfer Hugo Vau, world record holder for surfing “Big Mama” the highest wave ever recorded, 35 meters, in Portugal.
