Three top accessories for your boat

ecoflow accessories

Ecoflow: the generator? Portable and “eco”

The first of the accessories we present weighs five kilograms, is the size of a toaster, and is environmentally friendly and quiet. More importantly, it is a real “generator” with lithium batteries that you can take on board. It is called the EcoFlow River and takes advantage of two patented charge management technologies: the X-Stream Technology enables power stations to be recharged in one and a half hours while the EcoFlow Battery Management System uses intelligent algorithms to regulate the health of the battery to ensure maximum efficiency.

The River model is the most compact one, and thanks to its 9 ports it can power devices up to 1800Wh. It has a capacity of 288Wh that can be doubled to 576Wh with the help of an extra battery. River Pro, on the other hand, offers up to 720 Wh of power, weighs 7.6 kg, and with the help of the River Pro Extra battery can reach a capacity of 1440 Wh. All EcoFlow models are rechargeable with waterproof and foldable solar panels (110 or 160 W). Prices start at 399 euros for the River version. hobbyhobby.co.uk

Tender Geniuss. Oplà, engine in the middle!

Behind the Geniuss brand, a Rome-based company specializing in the production of dinghies with folding outboards, is a fine family history. Young Claudia De Sanctis decided to carry on her father’s ideas after his passing, perfecting the system he had thought up and expanding the range of boat models. At the Cannes Boat Show we had a chance to touch some of the tenders and were pleasantly impressed.

Both from the smallest models (2.60 Open) with manual engine sliding and lowering system (photo above), and the more “luxury” models (4.20 m) with hydraulic solution. To be discovered. www.geniuss.it

Karbones cylinder, air in a bottle

Is there any cleaning of the hull in the water? Do you want to check the health of the bulb? Exploring the seabed around the boat? There is a “never again without” accessory for you. Karbones, which is not a canister. But an ultra-convenient compressed air “bottle”: to breathe underwater you simply put the “head” of the bottle in your mouth. No more cumbersome back supports for tanks, no more maxi respirators.

Karbones is offered in various versions. The range for the Alu bottle can go up to 10 minutes and 12 minutes for the Carbon bottle. The aluminum bottle is lightweight and weighs 1.2 kg (1 kg for the carbon bottle) but the weight felt underwater is about 1 kg (900 grams for the carbon bottle), its lightness will allow you to freely enjoy the underwater scenery.

The depth beyond which we recommend you do not go is 3 meters, beyond which, when ascending you will have to practice some scuba de-compression as with traditional tanks (however, tanks are functional up to 50 meters for certified divers).

Recharging can be done in several ways: with the hand pump (17 minutes for the Carbon model, 15 for the Alu), with a dedicated 220 V compressor or with a 12 V mini compressor. Or with the Etrier filling station, which allows you to fill your Alu or Carbon bottle from a large diving cylinder. This system allows the aluminum bottle to be filled in 2 minutes. Two Alu cylinders from Karbones equipped with a 12 V compressor are priced at 815 euros. The two-bottle and hand pump kit, on the other hand, costs 495 euros. www.karbones.com
