Participating in the VELA Cup is quick and easy. Even if you have no competitive experience. All you need is a sailboat from three meters and up. And if you don’t have a boat, we can find you a boat to race on.

The spirit of this regatta/sailing is to spend a day of sailing together with many other boats. A celebration of sailing for all. And it is not a cliché.
How easy it is to participate you know, all you need is a boat from 10 feet up. The rest is taken care of by the organization; there are no complicated and expensive tonnage certificates to show.
Simply declare the boat’s overall length to be placed in one of seven categories, defined by length. Then you simply choose whether you want to sail white sails (cruising class) and that is with mainsail and genoa, or you also want to use spi/gennaker (racing class). And then the first one to cross the finish line in each class wins. In addition
from this edition
we will also have an overall winner (one for the cruising class and one for the racing class) for each event, which will not necessarily be the first-place boat, but, thanks to a secret compensation formula that puts all boats on an equal footing, will be independent of size. Not only the biggest boats, but also the smallest boats will be able to win. But the news is not over, because this year there will also be racing on Sunday, May 7. It will be an extra opportunity to test oneself in the waters of Tigullio in a combination with a dedicated ranking, including Saturday’s regatta and Sunday’s regatta with final prize-giving. A “litmus test” for the disappointed and for those who just don’t feel like going home and want to enjoy the party and toast to the last.

And if you don’t have a boat ,all you have to do is look for a boarding to participate in the 2017 VELACup in Santa Margherita Ligure. This year, if you do not feel like visiting us “on foot,” and in order for you to make the most of your days at the VELAFestival, we have decided to create a network among you enthusiasts to give you a chance to find boarding if you are not a boat owner, either to participate in the VELACup on Saturday, May 6 and Sunday, May 7 both to spend all four days of the event by boat. If, on the other hand, you own a boat but are missing people to complete your racing crew or if you more simply feel like sharing your boat with other enthusiasts, for the pleasure of meeting new people, you can easily search for someone to complete your crew by following this link.

By filling out the form found on this page
, with your details, characteristics and experience as a sailor/mariner, your announcement and email will be published and you will be able to choose or be chosen to participate in the Mediterranean’s biggest party.
The success of our initiative is evidenced by the numbers on our online bulletin board where you have already signed up by the dozens to make yourself available to a boat owner looking for crew or to make your boat available to someone who wants to experience the VELAFestival and the VELA Cup from the water!

But also you can also rent a boat to make the VELA Cup. Thanks to the service offered by MondoVela, you can choose different formulas with which to participate “from aboard” at the VELAFestival, without wasting time in lengthy research, because we provide you with “packages” tailored to the event. In fact, you can decide with a simple click whether to rent the boat from Wednesday evening (May 3) from Fezzano (the price is the same as the weekend) to be in Santa Margherita as early as Thursday and cut the inaugural ribbon of the event with us and disembark on Sunday (May 7) after spending four days together and participating in the
SAIL Cup
on Saturday, May 6 and Sunday, May 7, and enjoying live coverage of the Sailor of the Year award ceremony on Friday night, May 5, the party on Saturday night, and participating in all the activities we have planned for you.

If you are not lucky enough to be able to take off work for all four days of the event, don’t panic. We have also come up with weekend-sized embarkations (May 5-7 departing from Chiavari) that will allow you to enjoy the highlight of the VELAFestival from Friday’s Evening of Champions to Sunday’s closing, day when you can choose whether to race or participate in the great Treasure Hunt at the Dock that we are organizing.

But that’s not all, if you only have one day, and you absolutely want to spend it at sea we have the solution for you: one charter fee per day per person, book your place on board, directly from Santa Margherita, for the day you prefer and that’s it. Without having to rent the whole boat.
