The Genoa International Boat Show has just finished and if you’re thinking about buying a new sailboat, it’s time to start “skimming” the list of potential candidates. If you’re looking for a large series cruiser between 11 and 13 metres (one of the most popular sizes), take a look at five best sellers in this market segment.
We have selected 5 models representing Jeanneau, Beneteau, Bavaria, Dehler and Grand Soleil, namely the Sun Odyssey 410, the Bavaria C38, the Oceanis 40.1, the Dehler 38 SQ and the Grand Soleil 42 LC. The first three are new sailboats which straddle the line between owner cruising and charter. The Dehler, on the other hand, will be the “performance cruiser” pareses of our selection. In the last case, on the other hand, we have taken into consideration one of the most successful boats in Cantiere del Pardo‘s Long Cruise collection.
5 NEW SAILBOATS FROM 11 TO 13 METERS
Bavaria C38 – Bavaria | LENGTH 10.99 m, Width 3,98 m
The first sailboat of our selection is designed by Cossutti Yacht Design and is one of the latest new entries from Bavaria Yachts. The new Bavaria C38 is an aesthetically “fresh” boat that continues the aesthetic renewal of the range, adding renewed performance thanks to a hull designed not only to be comfortable when cruising but also high-performance at sea. The slightly V-shaped hull guarantees smooth passage over the waves and comfort when sailing.

Dehler 38 SQ – Hanse Group | Length 11.64 m, width 3.75 m
A little bigger, the second boat of our selection is the sportiest of the five. The Dehler 38 SQ, which is also available with an imposing square-top mainsail, is the middle way between speed and relaxation, between cruising and high-performance sailing. It is a boat that can easily change skin, with which to travel or have fun among the buoys.

Oceanis 40.1 – Beneteau | Length 12.87 m, width 4.18 m
The third boat in our selection bears the signature of Marc Lombard for the water lines and concept and Nauta Design for the interiors. This is a boat with XXL spaces, which can be used for both owner cruising and charter cruising by choosing from the various interior layouts. The new-generation hull guarantees comfort and a dry cockpit thanks to the edge that runs along the side: this serves both to divert the water that would rise to the deck and to increase the interior volumes.

Sun Odyssey 410 – Jeanneau | Length 13.39 m, width 4.29 m
The last sailboat in our selection was designed by Marc Lombard, the wizard of ocean hulls. This Jeanneau Sun Odyssey 410 has a look that, in some details, winks at oceanic open boats, such as the powerful bow and the wide, angled stern. A Performance version is equally available.

 GS 42 LC – Cantiere Del Pardo| Length 13.85 m, width 4,18 m
The smallest of Grand Soleil’s Long Cruise line surprises with interior spaces almost similar to her big sisters, without losing any of her attractive looks and good sailing ability. The boat is the result of a joint collaboration between Marco Lostuzzi for the waterlines and Nauta Design for the interiors and deck. Performance are great, and the interiors are well-finished with attention to detail.
